It was like Fernie was made just for Lisa and Dave’s wedding. Everything about the mountain town embodies who these two are as a couple. Avid hikers and outdoorsy people, they wanted to invite their closest friends and family into their lives at the Elk View Lodge for their ceremony and reception. Dave’s family and many friends travelled from Ontario for their wedding and were welcomed by the stunning surroundings of the Rocky Mountains.

Most of the touches at their wedding were done by the couple. The flowers were either homegrown or picked around Calgary and Fernie for the bouquets and centerpieces. Lisa’s gown was made from her maternal grandmother’s dress with lace from Valentino. Laura George Custom Bridal in Calgary created the gown. Her Rachel Simpson shoes were purchased in England by her mom and her jewellery was heirloom pieces from 1840 and the most incredible bracelet gifted to her by her mother-in-law.

Dave’s suit was custom-designed by Indochino. Their rings were made by The Goldsmiths in Calgary. Lisa’s wedding band (soldered to the engagement ring) is made from gold from Lisa’s maternal grandmother’s wedding band and yellow sapphires.

Catering, including the most delicious homemade ice cream, was provided by Cindy Maradyn-Hawkins.

What I love about Lisa and Dave is their infectious laughter and fun. They never stopped having fun all day. I loved that they did a twist on their first look and Lisa stood off while Dave walked up to her. They march to their own beat….together!

Thank you Christina Messenger for second shooting with me!
