I was heading out to photograph for a corporate client this evening when I received a message from a friend asking about a big fire north and east of Nanton. That was the area I was heading to and when I turned off the highway I could see the massive plume of smoke. So, I did what any former journalist would do – head straight for the fire as a Calgary photographer. There were emergency vehicles coming from everywhere and tractors and water trucks coming from every neighbouring field to help put out the blaze. It was a windy night and thankfully they managed to control it before it went into farmyards.
